Matt Vodola

Chief Investment Officer, Potomac Group, USA

 

Mr. Vodola is currently the Chief Investment Officer at Potomac Group, a sovereign advisory firm based in Washington DC focused on advising governments on balance sheet matters, debt restructurings, debt transactions, and climate finance opportunities. In his current role he is responsible for designing and implementing debt instruments with climate and nature outcomes as well as advising government and multilateral clients on debt capital markets transactions and debt restructurings. Potomac Group is currently mandated in advising six different African and South-Asian governments on climate finance opportunities and transactions.

 

Prior to joining the Potomac Group, Mr. Vodola worked for Citadel, a multi-strategy hedge fund, where his responsibilities included managing sovereign and corporate debt investments across global EM. Before Citadel he was an investment analyst at Brigade Capital, a global investment management firm specializing in credit strategies in stressed and distressed situations. Mr. Vodola managed the firm's EM special situations positions and coverved US companies in retail, restaurants, CPG, food & beverage, among others. Additionally, Mr. Vodola worked in capital markets roles on trading desks at Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs.

 

Throughout his twenty-year career, Mr. Vodola has also provided advice as an investor and capital markets expert to ministers, debt management offices, and central bankers on debt restructurings, liability-management exercises, structured financial instruments, and general sovereign financings. 


Mr. Vodola holds an MA in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University. He also holds certifications in debt sustainability & financial programming from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
