Sigurd Heiberg

Member, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Expert Group on Resource Management (EGRM); Chair, Commercial Applications Working Group

Sigurd Heiberg is an active member of the UNECE Expert Group on Resource Management (EGRM), its Technical Assistance Group, Resource Management Task Force and chairing its Commercial Applications Working Group. He is a close associate of Petrad. He makes himself available for consulting, teaching and pro-bono work through Petronavit a.s, a company he chairs. 

Sigurd has spent most of his working life in Government and industry, working and teaching on resources management and strategy. He has been Deputy Director of resource management responsible for development and production at the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate in the late 1970s, Petroleum exploration advisor to the Minister of Water, Energy and Minerals of Tanzania in the 1980s, and a member of Statoil’s corporate strategy team.

He chaired the Oil and Gas Reserves Committee of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (2000-2001) when the SPE Resource classification that later became the SPE-PRMS was developed. He also chaired what now is the EGRM (2002-2009) when the UN Framework Classification for Resources was developed and he chaired the Bureau of the UNECE Intergovernmental Committee on Sustainable Energy (2010-2012).
