Flora Brytes is a Planning and Gender-Responsive Budgeting Adviser for Australia’s Governance for Development Program. She assists the government of Timor-Leste with developing policies, plans, and budgets that consider the needs of all Timorese citizens, leading the implementation of Gender-Responsive Budgeting in Timor-Leste. In the past years, she produced the country’s first policy note on Gender Mainstreaming in Public Financial Management (PFM) reform (2017-2021) and various country level reports for the implementation of international & national gender commitments. She has 10 years of experience in providing professional advisory services on various issues including gender equality and foreign policy to the Government of Timor-Leste. She is the author of the Gender Budgeting for Inclusive Growth in Timor-Leste chapter in a book publication called Contemporary Economic and Social Policy for Inclusive Growth.  In November 2017, Flora won the Gender award by the Australian Embassy for her outstanding efforts in influencing gender reforms across the Government of Timor-Leste. Previously, Ms. Brytes worked for Timor-Leste’s Secretary of State for Equality and Inclusion, Ministry of State Administration, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
