Yohannes Abebe

Global Practice Leader and Senior Director (PLSD) for Transport and Vertical Structure (TVS) group in the Department of Compact Operations

 

Yohannes Abebe is MCC’s Global Practice Leader and Senior Director (PLSD) for Transport and Vertical Structure (TVS) group in the Department of Compact Operations at the Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC). He is responsible for providing technical leadership and global portfolio management of MCC’s investments in the transport sector and facilities at all stages of the project cycle including project identification, appraisal, and development, feasibility studies, engineering design, construction and closeout.  In 15 years with MCC, Mr. Abebe has worked in various MCC compact countries in Central America, Africa, Euro Asia and South Asia, and the Far East focusing on transport projects.  As a PLSD, Mr. Abebe’s primary responsibilities include advancing MCC’s practices in TVS by applying best practices and continually integrating lessons learned from various projects to insure that MCC projects achieve their intended development impacts. 

 

Prior to joining MCC, Mr. Abebe served as Senior Project Manager and Professional Associate for more than two decades in a major US-based international transportation engineering consulting firm.

 

Mr. Abebe holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Systems and a MS in Transportation (Civil) Engineering from the State University of New York. Mr. Abebe has authored various publications in major technical journals.
