Michael Parry, Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on International Accounting Standards
Michael Parry is UK Chartered Accountant and Chartered Management Accountant with extensive experience of public financial management. He has a first degree in Economics from London University and a Ph.D. in development Accounting from Cardiff University. He has worked in the public and at a senior level in the private sector, including as Managing Director of an international training organisation, Chairman and Director of an international public financial management consulting firm. He has provided advice on public financial management to governments in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Pacific and the Caribbean.
Since retiring from his full time role he has continued to be actively involved in public financial management. Currently he is adviser to the PFM Council of Tajikistan, Director of the PFM Capacity Strengthening project in Somalia, a resource person to the Public Expenditure Management Peer Assisted Learning (PEMPAL) network and an adviser to the IMF. Michael Parry has written extensively on PFM issues, including a number of articles published in the International Journal of Government Financial Management.
