ICGFM Board of Directors - Biography
Mari Robinette Deasel, Former Project Consultant
Mari Robinette Deasel was the Project Consultant for the International Consortium on Governmental Financial Management for over eight years and worked closely with the Executive Director to ensure effective functioning of the ICGFM Executive Committee and Board of Directors and supported all aspects of ICGFM communication strategies and organizational outreach.
Mari served as an Environmental Scientist for the United States Army Public Health Command (USAPHC) for over six years, supporting preventive medicine troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, US Southern Command, US Northern Command and US Pacific Command by preparing and communicating environmental health risk assessments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Global War on Terrorism, humanitarian exercises and global basing. Among other duties, Mari was responsible for answering Congressional Inquiries and FOIA requests into occupational and environmental health incidents and USAPHC responses to incidents and was the content manager/administrator for the secure USAPHC website.
Previously, Mari was a Research Coordinator, Gastrointestinal Pathology, for Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine managing a multi-center, national drug trial centered on the chemoprevention of Barrett’s esophagus. In addition to her coordination duties, she also performed genetic studies in esophageal, stomach, liver, colon and pancreas cancer research labs and created Tissue Micro Arrays for immunohistochemical analyses. She is a co-author in three medical publications concerning gastrointestinal pathology research.
Mari holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a minor field of study in Environmental Geography. She has also studied database and website creation/administration.
