Beatriz C. Casals, Individual Member, United States
Beatriz C. Casals is a senior international development executive and experienced nonprofit board member who has managed and advised on operations in more than 40 countries worldwide, including some facing daunting corruption and organized crime challenges, such as Albania, Colombia, Mexico, Nigeria, and the Ukraine. The key skills that have contributed to her success at managing ethical and compliant global operations include leadership, strategic planning, communications, human capital management, risk assessment, and corporate management.
Between 2012 and 2014 Ms. Casals served as Senior Consultant and Advisor at International Resources Group, Inc. (IRG), an international development consulting firm delivering sustainable, innovative solutions to the developing world’s most complex problems. At IRG, she developed and led business win strategies for transition and stability contract opportunities.
Between 1986 and 2010, Ms. Casals founded and served as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Casals & Associates, Inc. (Casals)—an international development and strategic communications firm specializing in anti-corruption, rule of law, and post-conflict transition and management. She grew the firm into a profitable mid-sized enterprise with more than 300 employees and a U.S. federal government contract portfolio with a maximum value exceeding $3 billion. In 2010, she sold her previously woman-owned firm to DynCorp International, then a publicly traded company with more than 20,000 employees and over $4 billion of annual revenues.
In 2011, Ms. Casals co-founded Global Ethics Advisors, LLC (GEA), an ethics compliance and governance firm where she serves as a Principal. In this role, she helps businesses operating overseas lower the risk of corrupt practices and noncompliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and all other applicable international and local anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws.
Ms. Casals holds an M.S., Cum Laude, in Education and Administration from Western Oregon University and a B.A., Summa Cum Laude, in Languages from Barry University. She was a Kellogg Foundation Fellow with the Institute for Educational Leadership and is certified in Model-Netics, a comprehensive management training program, which she taught to Casals staff. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
